Good RCM Requires Knowledge and Experience

Reliability Centered Maintenance - It's a seven step process so it should be very simple, just follow the seven steps, do a little RCM Blitz and the next thing you know the reliability of your equipment, people and business will improve over night.

I wish were that simple.

Seems like every time I hold a RCM Facilitator Training event I have someone in class that believes that he/she can run right back to work and start facilitating perfect RCM events without ever being mentored through an RCM analysis.My answer is always the same, "You're free to try it out and good luck". Facilitating a RCM analysis takes a little more than understanding the seven steps of RCM. The skill set of a RCM facilitator is three fold;

- Knowledge of RCM

- Knowledge of Failure Modes

- Knowledge of Group Dynamics

You have to be able to manage the team and lead the process! If your lacking in one of these areas your RCM analysis will suffer and the results from your RCM analysis will suffer as well.

At Allied Reliability we are the only company in the world to offer RCM Blitz Facilitator training and mentoring. Lead by RCM Blitz creator Doug Plucknette, all of our RCM Blitz Facilitators and Trainers have achieved certification. If your people arn't certified, your not doing RCM Blitz!

RCM Implementation

While Implementation may be the graveyard to many RCM programs, it is also the key to having a successful initiative. At Allied Reliability we work closely with our clients to ensure they understand the task at hand when it comes to implementing the tasks developed in their RCM Blitz analyses. The first thing you need to complete the implementation of your RCM analysis is a plan. Who will be responsible to track the implementation? We call this your implementation manager. Make one individual responsible for tracking each task and reporting the progress on a week to week basis.The second thing that needs to take place is resource allocation. You will need to give people time to implement these tasks. Time for writing procedures, linking them to you CMMS and scheduling them for you maintenance crafts people.The third thing you need to do is prioritize and assign your RCM tasks. Each task should be given a priority based on the probability and consequence of the failure, and each task should be assigned to a specific individual along with a due date.In completing the above three steps your company will be well on its way to establishing a successful RCM effort. If your company is looking to start a successful RCM effort, contact Allied Reliability and learn about RCM Blitz, the fastest growing and most successful methodology available.

Why Blog About RCM Blitz?

My friends think I'm a nerd! I told them recently that I write a blog about my company Allied Reliability , Inc. , my product RCM Blitz and about RCM Facilitator Training. This was the conversation one night at dinner with clients and fellow consultants at IMC2006. The conversation went something like this:

Doug - Hey, I was wondering are any of you guys blogging about your business or products?

Reply - Blogging.....What the heck is blogging ?

Doug - Its a form of communication where you can post letters, notes and articles about your business and things your interested in. If people search for your company or products in Google or as a Blog they can find the articles and it's another great way to find new clients.

Reply - And, you have time to do this?

Doug - Sure it only takes a few minutes a week or month to sit down at the lap top and write something up and post it.

Reply - Wow, your a real nerd!Well it guess that could be true, but I just don't deal well with being bored and this gives me something to do. Sometimes people even read these and write back! Now that my friends is technology at its best!
